default
Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: My wife has severe pain in her trachea windpipe area. It hurts to breath and seems to get worst depending on how she lays down. It's been going on now for a week or so. The bottom of her mouth hurts as well and her face is swollen around the eyes. She recently was taking proactiv and had to stop because it was swelling up her eyes really bad. Right after she stop taking proactiv is when all of this started happening. Is there anything you can tell us? By the way she doesn't have a cough or change in voice.

Brief Answer:
She might be having allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your wife's situation and problem.
In my opinion she is having acute allergic reaction.
Swelling under eyes, pain in trachea and lower part of mouth (angioedema) are suggestive more of acute allergic reaction.
Proactive can cause such allergic reaction in susceptible individual.
So better to consult dermatologist and get done clinical examination.
You may need antihistamine and anti allergic drugs. You may also require steroid cream.
Since all these drugs are prescribed medicines, you need doctor 's prescription for them.
So consult dermatologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your wife. Thanks.
