Question: I have had intermintent pain in what I think is my vagina. I have seen an urologist (three times), a gynocologist (twice), and an internist (my family MD, multiple times) about this problem. For three months the pain seemed to happen without a reason. The pain lasts from 20 - 30 minutes. The urologist gave me some Estrace to use because she thought it was dryness. That medication might "cool off" the area, but does not stop the pain.
I have had a tube inserted into my vagina to "see what" its photography could tell these folks. I have had all sorts of urinary tests and nothing comes back from them except "everything is okay, no problems" no strange bacteria or viruses.
Two months ago when having dinner with a friend and drinking a glass of wine, wow! there was that pain. Have tried alcohol more times and it happens each time. The pain is less with beer! I've seen the various doctors since then and told them that if I drink alcohol the pain begins within 90 seconds. That really amazes me. I have a BS and MS in biology and never learned (nor taught) how fast that alcohol goes into and through the blood system. On occasion I also have the pain after a shower when I have carefully washed, but not scrubbed my genitals. I shower daily. I am not overweight. I am a diabetic - take Metformin (1000 MG, two times a day)and insulin (Lantus) . My blood sugars run 70-100 (morning), around 130 - 179 (noon), and bedtime (150 - 200). BP runs 40/120 to 70/170. I am divorced for three years after 49 years of a good marriage... Have not had sex in five years.
This problem has kept occurred for over six months, and it knocks me off my feet when it occurs. The longest time period without the pain is four or five days. I am 78 and very active socially and physically. I've searched all over the Internet and am very depressed.
