Brief Answer:
Different possible causes, need to rule out heart disease

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Chest pain, pressure and difficulty breathing can be very alarming sensations for a person to experience.

These symptoms can start from any structure in the chest from the skin inwards but at age 72, heart disease has to be ruled out by physical examination by your doctor and also with an ECG.

Other sources of chest pain/pressure and difficulty breathing include-
(1) anxiety
(2) lung disease such as infection, pulmonary embolism (clot in the lung), trauma
(3) costochondritis- inflammation involving the sternum

If a heart disease is ruled out the doctor may consider one of these options

Hope I have answered your query.
