I read your question and i understand your concern. Severe sore throat with blood in mucus and painful tonsils and changed sound are all sequelae of throat infection. Starting antibiotics was good idea. However getting throat swabs would have been better to sort out the possible cause. It takes a few days minimum of 3 for antibiotics to start working. Also use anti inflammatory medications, like advil, decongestants and salt water gargles, warm comforting beverages like green tea or herbal tea mixed with honey. Avoiding spices and all other sour foods will hasten the recovery. Take as much fluids as possible.Tell her to rest her voice and talk as minimum as possible . These symptoms resolve maximum in a week or two but start improving in a few days. So hang in there and keep compliance with the medications.
