What Causes Severe Stomach Cramps After Wine Intake?

Question: I very rarely drink alcohol, maybe 1 glass of Red wine every 2 weeks. Two nights ago I had about 4 standard size red wines over a period of about 3 hours, I woke up with severe stomach cramps, it was painful to try and release pressure on the toilet & for the last 2 days it is painful to walk & sit because my stomach is so tender & sore? I have had these pains before & am careful with what I eat, but I have not associated them with red wine before.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
Where is your pain located?
If its upper middle abdominal pain, peptic ulcer or stomach inflammation is most possible.
If the pain is in the upper right abdomen and radiates to the back, acute pancreatitis( due to alcohol intake) or gallstones are most probable.
As you have autoimmune disease, Crohns disease should be also considered.
I suggest you to visit your doctor and do not wait any longer. Abdominal ultrasound, blood work, liver tests, pancreas tests and abdominal X-ray should be done.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards

The pain is quite low. I have had a colonoscopy and was checked for Crohns and all was clear. It's like an excessive built up pressure, but there is not relief even when getting rid of some wind which is quite painful! It is almost like a bearing down pain!
Brief Answer:
.
Detailed Answer:
Crohns disease does not affect large intestine only. It also causes an inflammation of small intestine which can not be checked with colonoscopy. Moreover, if the colonoscopy were few months ago, inflammatory changes could not be present on that time.
Your symptoms sound like possible obstruction. You should have bloated abdomen with an obstruction and feeling a gas being trapped inside. You may also have diarrhea occasionally. Nausea can appear.
Painful gas passing indicates some narrowing in the intestines.
Please have it checked with abdominal X-ray.
