What Causes Severe Stomach Pain After Eating And Unexplained Weight Loss?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: My husband experienced an attack of severe pain in his stomach after eating a few bites of food. This happened about a month ago. He has had an unexplained weight loss of about 25 lbs. in a relatively short time frame. He complains of a tender tummy daily. He said his bowel movements are yellow, his urine the color of orange juice, and yesterday he appeared to me to be jaundiced. His gastroenterologist has scheduled an EUS test, but not until two weeks from now. I think he should be seen sooner than that. What say you?
Unexplained weight loss(25lbs.), yellow poop, dark urine, jaundice, tender tummy. Dr. Says may be acute pancreatitis, has ordered an EUS test for 8/5. Should he be seen sooner?

Brief Answer:
CT scan of whole abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I have gone through the history.

Yes, I concur that he must me seen sooner. If you are unable to push for an early appointment, you might opt to choose for emergency services (ER) and do a CT scan of whole abdomen, urine microscopy culture test and blood test for liver function test, amylase and lipase.
