What Causes Severe Vaginal Pain During Iintercourse?

Question: Hi,
I love my wife and we try hard to have a good sexual experience. However during insertion she goes through tremendous pain. Can you please suggest what type of doctor we should visit. We are confused among urologist, gynecologist, or sexologist.

I am sorry to hear that your sexual life is not going fine. Some women have their sympathetic nervous supply over the genital area and it may take considerable time before the area is finally relaxed and ready. As a result of this, your wife is getting the tremendous pains.

The solution should be to get her aroused properly before you finally insert. In other words, a more amount of casual foreplay is required. The next thing is to use some water based lubricant like K-Y jelly during intercourse.

You need to consult a gynecologist but consulting a sexologist would also be just fine. I would prefer a gynecologist since he/she would be able to examine her clinically and assess if something is wrong and can intervene accordingly. I would not suggest going to a urologist.
