What Causes Severe Vertigo While On Medication For Hypertension In An Elderly Person?
I am suffering from Vertigo from the last 3 years. Consulted ENT and Neaurlogist. MRI, and CT Scan of the head done. Evertything normal. Doctor has told that it may be BPPV.
Some time the vertigo is severe for which I have to be on bed for 1 or 2 days. This happen arrround 2 or 3 time in a year. During other days I will be suffering from light headedness and slight vertigo, which restricts my mobility and driving. During that time I take VERTIN 8 MG / DIZITAC,1 or 2 daily.
Some time this medication is helpful and sometimes not. I have tried ALPRAX .25 MG during night, which helps in reducing the sysmtom.
How long I can continue with this medicines. Kindly help.
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your problem.
BPPV is the most common vestibular disorder and the most common cause for vertigo in all age groups and specially in people above the age of 60 years.
Frankly speaking there is no Permanant cure for this.
You can be successfully treated but the condition can come back any time and this is what is happening with you.
Since You are getting it 2-3 times a year and become all right with few days of treatment, there is no harm in going ahead with it.
Taking the medicines for few times a year won't have any bad effect on you.
Basically speaking there are no other specific medicines other than what you are taking.
Carry on with the medicines and best of luck to you.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
Thanks.
I get 2 types of Vertigo
1) Yesterday Evening I got severe Vertigo, with nausea. I could not able to stand without any support. I took DIZITAC tab. After 3 hours, I could take some food. Today I am 75% ok. Today also I took 1 Dizitac and taking rest.
Please inform how many doses I have to take.
This type of Vertigo happened 3rd time this year. Last year 4 times.
2) Another type is, in almost all days I will have slight giddiness. I could able to walk or drive with caution. During such time I take VERTIN 8 mg. Night I take ALPRAX. 25 mg for 3 to 4 days. Then I will be alright for the next 3 to 4 days. Again the same problem repeats and I take the medicines.
Kindly advice me in both the cases.
Thank you
1....you can take DIZITAC three times a day
2....i would suggest you to take vertin 8 mg three times a day for a week and then taper to twice a day and then once a day for a week and then stop it. This way it may have a better effect. Try it and see the response.
Thanks
Thanks
Dizitac 3 times a day for how many days
Take it for 5-7 days in the dose of three times and then can manage it according to the response.
Thanks
