What Causes Severe Vomiting And Upper Abdominal Pain When Diagnosed With Celiac Disease?
Symptoms are related to gastroenteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for your daughter's symptoms.
1) She might have episodes of gastro-enteritis associated with celiac disease in which distal part of stomach and proximal part of small intestine (duodenum) become inflamed (redness, edema) due to either irritation or allergy to particular food. This might be reason, she had multiple episodes of this.
2) She would require basic treatment for acidity (Pantoprazole), medication to prevent vomiting (Ondansetron) and diet modification in form of gluten free diet, avoidance of oily, spicy, partially cooked, unhygienic food.
3) She might require IV therapy in case of severe symptoms.
4) It is not advisable to perform upper GI endoscopy in acute attack of symptoms but once symptoms would be treated and resolved with medication, she can undergo endoscopy to check extent and severity of inflammation.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
