What Causes Severely Painful Urination With Burning Sensation During And After Urination?

I have recently had very painful urination with burning during and after. Last night when wiping I saw bright red blood spots and so I dabbed near the urethral meatus and it most definitely was coming from there. I have been extremely lethargic but no nausea, vomiting. I have had occasional abdominal pain and back pain. I have had UTIs in the past, but not in a very long time. One bout of kidney infection during which I was hospitalized for a few days. But that was 10 years ago. Every time they have ruled out stones. Would a simple UTI cause bleeding from the urethra? I haven't had an injury or recent sexual intercourse. My last cycle was two weeks ago. Do I need to see a physician or can this clear up on it's own???
would need antibiotics

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Yes, a urinary tract infection can cause bleeding. It is one of the possible symptoms of these infections.
The bleeding would occur because the infected surface is inflamed and therefore prone to bleeding, this would resolve once the infection is treated.
The infection is not likely to clear on its own, you would need to see your doctor for urine analysis and antibiotics if the infection is confirmed.
In addition to the antibiotics, you would need to increase your fluid intake to help flush out the urinary tract.
At least 8 to 10 glasses a day.
The use of cranberry juice would also be helpful.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
