What Causes Sexual Anhedonia?
Question: I suffer from sexual anhedonia. I feel nothing when I have an orgasm. I still have a desire for sex, but I don't feel anything. I was taking Prestiq for depression, and it really worked well, but sexual anhedonia was one of the side effects. At the time, it was worth it to feel better. Well, Prestiq no longer works, and I'm still suffering from sexual anhedonia. It's been over a year. Is this condition permanent? Is there anything I can do?

HI
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query.
Sexual anhedonia is part of depression and sometime, due to antidepressant, it increases. This condition is not permanent and can be improved. In your case, either you can try to shift to another antidepressant like bupropion or can try some technique like master and XXXXXXX technique. You can discuss about this technique with your psychiatrist.
In case, you need further help, you can ask.

I did switch to bupropion, and it made no difference. In fact, I was med free for quite a while to see if the condition improved. It did not. And I've been depressed my whole life, but this condition didn't start until I took Prestiq. I was fine before, even on other meds.
What is the Masters and XXXXXXX technique? I don't have a psychiatrist.
Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Master and XXXXXXX technique is kind of psychotherapy that is use in cases where partners do not get desire sexual satisfaction either due to lack of orgasm or erectile dysfunction. In your case, you do not get satisfaction, so it would help you to get desired response.
It has five steps:
1. In first therapist talk to couple and try to find out the reason of dys-satisfaction.
2. Second step: Couple would stay nude for few hours and touch each other body with hand and mouth except on private part.
3 Third step: Couple could touch partner's private part also.
4. Fourth step: Women on top. In this step, if partner gets sufficient erection, they could go for sex.
5. Proper sex
You need a psychiatrist for this technique and your partner support must be for this technique. Try to find a psychiatrist who could help and teach you this technique.
In case, you need further help, you can ask.
