What Causes Shallow Breathing And Tightness In Abdomen?
I have been experiencing shallow breathing for almost a year. I find that I cant breathe properly and when i inhale to take a deep breath I can feel tightness in my abdomen area. Also after eating a small meal and im in a seated postion its even more difficult for me to breath. Since ive had this problem I have been getting brain fog and i find it hard to concentrate and focus. I think the reason for this is because im constantly thinking about my shallow breathing. I would also like to note that I had a disease called Cushings. My body was overproducing cortisol due to a tumor located in the Pituitary Gland. I had surgery last year in November. I dont know if i should see a gastroenterologist or or pulmonologist.
You need to see pulmonologist or surgeon
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.
From you query it seems to be lung issue-restrictive or obstructive. The distinction between the various conditions that can cause restrictive or obstructive lung disease cannot be online. You need evaluation by a doctor. I think yours is some restrictive lung condition. A gastroenterologist will come into picture if it is diaphragmatic hernia.
You will need pulmonary function tests that can easily distinguish the various conditions. Doctors may also order other tests like chest x-ray, ct scan of chest, etc. These tests are needed to find a cause.
In the meanwhile you should do breathing techniques to normalize the breathing pattern. There are some nice breathing techniques in XXXXXXX yoga. You can learn pranayam, anulom-vilom from google, youtube and try it. Advanced breathing technique called as XXXXXXX (eg, XXXXXXX kriya) is also available and can be learnt in a course by a teacher.
Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
