The pain is only located on the outside of the pivot point, burning, sharp pain of the knee. Nothing is alivating the pain. Standing, sitting, laying down, elevating my leg.
I have no choice but to work. I stand and walk 8 hours a day.
Investigations/ expert's advise & management under expert care.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for asking through Health care magic. I have read & understood your query.
The sharp burning pain you have out side knee joint.. at the pivot point as you describe, coincides exactly where the common peroneal nerve turns around
the head of small bone of leg ( fibula).. supply leg & foot, ankle.
You have compression / injury to the nerve at the site .
- It can be due to compression at the site you denote ( an old scar of injury/ abnormal bone at the site pressing on it/ swelling of tibiofibular joint .)
- Pressure/ kinking of the sciatic nerve fibers comprising the the peroneal nerve at hip or lumber vertebrae.
* I would request for consulting an orthopedic surgeon. He would examine you physically, get you investigated ( Xray, CT scan Or MRI )- to point out exact location of the pressure & plan for specific treatment.
* management would be by-
- rest till the pain is under control
- Ice pack to control acute pain
- Medicines for pain management/ local injection of steroids to treat inflammation & pain
- Physiotherapy ..which would be cause specific.. learned under expert guidance.
- In few cases surgery is treatment of choice
Please don't worry, proper evaluation of case & specific management would help you to get rid of the trouble soon.
I hope, the answer has guided you for the solution of pain. Any follow up query is welcome.
I request for grading of the answer & closure of the query.. when you are satisfied with it.
Thanks.
