pain is in my rib on my left side not over chest or abdominnal area. Definitely a rib.
Brief Answer:
Rib sprain most likely
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms,
The symptoms you are experiencing are most probably due to rib sprain Which is caused by costovertebral or costochondral joints inflammation. This condition usually presents with painful breathing and movements together with pain at the area of the joints affected.
It usually resolves but will take about 6-7 weeks to be completely relieved. But first, an X-ray chest should be done to rule out any fractures. It should be treated with an anti-inflammatory eg. Diclofenac twice daily, that will also help with the pain and corticosteroids that need to be taken under the supervision of a doctor.
Also, physiotherapy will help relieve the condition faster.
I hope I answered your question.
Regards
