default
Posted on Wed, 26 Nov 2014
Question: I have been having a sharp pain in my right side of my chest that shoots into my arm, it comes occasionally and usually takes my breath away. It helps to put my arm up above my head but sometimes it still comes back. Then the other night I woke up with an uncontrollable nose bleed. It was bleeding hard and I finally plugged it after some time. I have also been havering some very bad head aches that I get up in the middle of the night and take Advil. ( three nights now)

Brief Answer:
GAD is most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hell Sir,

I understand your query and concern.

You seem to have Generalized anxiety disorder/GAD.

This explains your sharp shooting chest pains with headaches.

GAD requires a multimodal approach of treatment for successful outcome.

Drugs like SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) for ex-Escitalopram 5-10 mg per day and Anxiolytics like Lorazepam 1-2 mg per day for 6-12 months will provide excellent relief against all the symptoms you mentioned.

Please note above mentioned drugs have to be taken under strict medical prescription.

Stress management with regular Breathing exercises and brisk walk for 20 min everyday will help to calm down your painful nerves, thereby restless legs.

Music therapy also helps.

Nose bleeds in your case have to be specially addressed through Anterior and Posterior Rhinoscopy which will detect the possible cause( bony spur and bleeding culprit vessel).

Diathermy cauterization will be helpful to arrest any bleeding.

I hope i have answered your query at the moment,

Post further queries if any.

Thank You.
