What Causes Sharp Pain In Hip Region After A Fall?

I also have balance issues due to MS, although it is the relapsing/remitting type. BUT I am concerned because this is my third fall in two months. The one prior to today resulted in two broken ribs. I have osteopenia. I just have become very clumsy and it worries me that instead of a simple pulled muscle or sprain it the MS acting up If it is simply a pulled muscle I will feel much better! Thanks
Soft tissue injury. Need to rule our serious fracture
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Thanks for the query.
Are you walking with a limp ?
Is there any shortening of the affected limb ?
It is possible that you have injured the soft tissue at the hip region. I am concerned of any fracture of the hip which needs to be addressed to immediately.
Apply ice. Take pain killer like Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days after meals. Drink plenty of water. Use a walking stick or Walker if it is difficult for you to get around especially due to the MS.
It is important to get an Xray of your hip, pelvis and lumbosacral spine to look for any fracture.
Kindly do the same and upload it online for my review. As of now kindly take rest and avoid moving about much. Keep the limb elevated over 2 pillows. Your should find relief in 5 days if it is a soft tissue injury.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
Regards,
Dr. Aashish Raghu
