What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Jaw Near The Ear, Temple And Neck?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Aug 2016
Question: I am a 36 year old female. Smoker (1-3 cigs/day). I have TMJ but usually do not have symptoms. Today while sitting at my desk, a vein in my left arm started spasm-ing and twitching. Then a sharp pain hit my left jaw near my ear, temple, and neck. Just recently my hearing went out in my right ear and there was a ringing in that ear.

Brief Answer:
You need Immediate Cardiac Evaluation. Please visit ER

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthCareMagic.com I am Dr.J XXXXXXX Anto Bruno Mascarenhas, and I am here to help you. I have read your question with care and understand that

1. You have TMJ
2. You Had a vein in left arm spasming and twitching
3. You had a sharp pain in your Left Jaw near Ear, Temple, Neck
4. Hearing Went out in Right Ear and there was a ringing in that ear
5. You smoke 1 to 3 cigarettes per day

Of these,
1+3+5 together make me suspect that these can be due to a heart problem.
They can be also not related and could be simple symptoms, but it is always better to be safe and rule out the more threatening complications first

Hence I would request you to kindly visit the ER at once and undergo ECG and ECHO to make sure that the Left Jaw Pain and Left Arm Twitching is not due to Myocardial Ischemia

TMJ and Hearing Loss can be evaluated after making sure that your heart is normal

Hope you found the answer helpful.

If you need any clarification / have doubts / have additional questions / have follow up questions, then please do not hesitate in asking again. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Best Wishes for Speedy Recovery
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
