What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Upper Abdominal Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jan 2015
Question: I am experiencing sharp pain in my left upper abdominal region. Antacids haven't helped. I actually just took a muscle relaxer to see if that would ease the pain. Certain movements, (quick or slow) or jarring intensifies the pain.

Brief Answer:
Musculoskeletal pain.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and can see your concern. I believe if the antacids are not working then its not a stomach discomfort or GERD plus it does not show up out of the blue and there is a history behind it . Also it doesn't aggravate with different movements.

You know what is used in movements, muscles. So if the movements are aggravating the pain then it is likely some muscle spasm and musculoskeletal pains are very common.

All you need to do is rest for a while. Take some muscle relaxants like orphenadrine, tizanidine etc and it should resolve. I will advise an EKG hough just to be out of the woods as some time heart pain presents atypically. Just as precaution and not that it looks grievous.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

May the odds be ever in your favour,

Regards
Khan

Just getting up from a horizontal position REALLY is painful. What are the chances it could be liver or spleen issues. Pain is just below my left rib area......an area about the size of my hand.

Brief Answer:
Only one way to know

Detailed Answer:
The best way to know is to have a simple ultrasound and look for any splenic or liber cause. But posture related pain is very unlikely for spleen. It sounds musculoskeletal ass rising from lying down posture is ass stress and effort for trunk muscles which ass kl insert on the rib cage of the area you mentioned.

Hope it helps. XXXXXXX
