What Causes Sharp Pain In The Lower Belly Button And Cough?

Question: I have had a cold and cough for a week. A lot of coughing. Today when I cough I get a sharp pain to the lower left of my belly button. Did I tear a stomach muscle?

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that since you had a lot of cough which continued for 1 week there is a possibilty that you could be having pneumonia and while coughing you may experience a sharp pain that is called pleurisy .which a person will experience ,every time he coughs .

Tearing a stomach muscle does not seem to be a possibilty to me.But still if you are worried a USG abdomen will be highly advisable .
