What Causes Sharp Pain In The Right Groin Area While Sneezing?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: Doctor, all of the sudden I am experiencing a sharp pain in my right groin whenever I sneeze, which is exasperated when I sneeze at a time that I am putting weight on that leg. I sneeze a fair amount - I have a generalized allergy. I am 56, but am in very good everyday physical condition (the reason I state it this way is that I did have a major heart attack 20 months ago, but have recovered and work out hard daily - alternating cardio and strength). I have no history of hernia. I do not recall doing anything that would have caused a hernia.

I guess my question is: What is causing this sharp?

Brief Answer:
Needs to be investigated .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have severe pain in Right groin exacerbated by sneezing .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have swelling of the testicle or spermatic cord .?
2) Have you noticed any swelling or bulge n inguinal region on coughing or sneezing ?.

Looking at the exercise that you have as a routine the possibility of having developed direct inguinal hernia due to increased intra abdominal pressure has to be be rued out .

I would suggest to consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Ultrasound Scanning of scrotum

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
