What Causes Sharp Pain In The Upper Arm?
Question: I get random very sharp pain in my upper arm muscle that takes my breath away and causes me to stop in my tracks. It will keep me from moving my arm until the pain subsides which can be a few seconds to a few minutes. I have found no rhyme or reason for it. It does not matter what position my neck or head is,,, it just happens when I move my arm at random times and hurts ALOT. It started a year ago and lasted for months then just went away for 5 months and started again a month ago.

Can be muscle spasm or capsulitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A sudden pain in the upper arm muscle that you have can be due to a muscle spasm or shoulder capsulitis. The muscle spasm can happen due to a mild inflammation in the area. You can get an MRI scan of the area done to find out any soft tissue abnormalities. Till then hot compress oral muscle relaxants and regular physiotherapy can help.
I hope this answers your query.
