Question: My girlfriend has a sharp pain in her vagina as well as a sharp pain in the left side of her belly

The sharp pain can be due to vaginismus or simply ovulation pain during mid cycle.The ovulation pain occurs as sharp pain during follicle rupture often accompanied with mild spotting.
If the pain doesn't SUBSIDE in next 24-48 hrs then you must get an ultrasound pelvis to rule out any ovarian torsion which can be an emergency.
