What Causes Sharp Pain On Left Side Of Upper Back Post Workouts?
Question: After doing a gymnastic workout, I have sharp, shooting pain on the left side of my upper back, around the T3-T5 area. It is worst when I am reaching forward with my right arm, retracting my left scapula, depressing my left scapula, and when extending and ispilaterally flexing my neck on the left side. The pain also shoots throw my neck and lower back. What are the possible things this could be, and should I go see a doctor or should I just stretch and use heat and ice?
In addition, there is very sharp and intense pain when I take a full breath, causing me to gasp and wince immediately.

I have gone through your suffering carefully and most likely cause is severe muscle spasm of upperback especially trapezius muscle. You may do hot water fomentation along with prescription only drug like thiocochiclside (muscle relaxant) and ibuprofen will help.Physiotherapy in form of short wave diathermy and TENS help.
Hope this suffices.
