What Causes Sharp Pain While Urinating And Yellow Pus Discharge From Penis?
Question: Hello Doc,
Last thursday went to the ER for i have sharp pain when i urinating.Therefore, the doctor gave me Amoxicillin 875mg+ Clavulanate antibiotic for one week & took a urine test. Told me i had a urine infection. Till today i still experinece sharp pain while urinating plus a yellow pus discharge from the penis. Please advise.

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have severe pain while urinating and have been prescribed combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanate but failed to get satisfactory results .

1) Did you have unprotected sex before getting these symptoms?
Burning urination with pus discharge from penis suggest severe UTI or Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Swab test and Culture of urethral discharge .
In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with Erythromycin and urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water.To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

Yes i did have unprotected sex. But the doctor that i went to only gave me these meds to take for a week.
