What Causes Skin Discoloration Around Lower Jaw And Lips?
Question: dear doc
I am a female 37yrs. Since the past 2 years theres difference in the skin color appearance of the Lower jaw n lips. Its got darker.. The upper lip hair growth has increased and requires frequent threading or waxing to make it look neat. Even the lips have become very dark. I have tried using lip balm and vaseline but has not helped. A doctor had suggested the cream Kojic (picture enclosed) but noticed after a period of time i get frequent itchiness on the lower part of the face and the cream has not helped in anyway too.
pls advise mode of treatment.

Thanks for the query and photograph,
This hyper pigmentation can be removed by using skin lightening creams.
Various creams are available like melalite xl, lookbrite, Lumaglow etc.
You can take any of them.
The following should be procedure to use it.
1. Wash your face in evening around 7.
2. Dry face and apply cream all over your face.
3. Keep it for one hour.
4. Wash face again.
5. Apply some moisturising cream and sleep.
6. In morning apply a sunscreen with spf at least 30.
Do this for a month, you will see the results.
Kojic is also a skin lightening cream but its potency is low.
For hair on upper lip you can apply eflornithine cream.
This gives excellent result in facial hair.
Don't go for lasers, they cause hyper pigmentation.
For lips you can use sunscreen containing lip balms.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.

the skin lightning cream used earlier caused itchiness in the area.
if the same occurs after replacing with those u prescribed. Should the application be discontinued?
My second query is about dark patches on my tongue which cause no discomfort but been there since many years. Any suggestion to eliminate those? photo attached.

Skin lightening creams cause bit itching, it is normal.
Apply it and keep for one hour and not over night.
Initially there will be discomfort which subsides in few days.
The black patch on tongue is a normal mole similar to what we have on skin.
It is difficult to remove it from tongue as the only treatment is to burn it by LASER.
Just relax no treatment is required for that

The black patch on tongue is a normal mole similar to what we have on skin.
It is difficult to remove it from tongue as the only treatment is to burn it by LASER.
