What Causes Skin Eruptions On Glans Penis?
I was recently diagnosed with pearly penile papules by a urologist. However none of them are on the ridge of the glans. They are clustered through out the face of it. Is that possible? He said he had never seen them in that location before.
He offered a CO2 removal but I am trying to decide whether a urologist or a dermatologist would be the best for this procedure. What are your thoughts?
Kindly send pictures of the affected area.

Pearly penile papules.
Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,
Welcome again to the forum and thanks for your swift response with pictures and other details.
After analyzing the complete situation and the pictures let me reassure you that the condition is Pearly penile papules. Your urologist is quite correct in his diagnosis.
Also to guide you that these are bit unusual type of appearance of the same as we get all observe these at the rim of the glans Penis. Though it is unusual but not uncommon appearance.
I quite often see and counsel your kind of cases whee the person is basically apprehensive due to the appearance. So I reassure you fully that these are very much normal and never turn to anything serious or cause any problem in future life or your Sexual life. Rather in have seen some of the persons finding these better for Sexual pleasure because of the bit raised surface !!!
Now for the part of treatment: as these are the normal structure so I preferably counsel my patients to not to disturb them as these never cause any problem.
But for some of the persons who are really anxious about its appearance then I prefer to do radio frequency ablation of these lesions. It is more cost effective and less penetrative then Co2 laser. Another benefit is that by radio frequency individual eruptions are removed one by one. So less area of penis is affected and therefore less painful.
Therefore there is early healing in radio frequency ablation and we can pick the larger lesions rather than ablation of the whole penile surface.
Though both these procedures are not very painful as a numbing cream is applied before this.
New lesions can appear despite ablation of the previous lesion and that is why I always counsel my patients to leave it as it is.
The exact reason for the occurrence of the lesions is still not very clearly understood and there is no any medication which can remove it or reduce its further formation. It is a simple benign proliferation of the oil glands at the penile area. As the penile skin is very thin so are prominent accordingly.
I reassure you again that this is one of the simplest condition which we dermatologist see quite often and thee is nothing to be worried about the same.
I hope these informations will relax your mind. I will be glad to answer any further queries.
