What Causes Skin Itching While On Plavix?
Question: Skin itching yet no rash. the last 5 days. it seemed to be subsiding a bit and then I took an aciphex which I reduced taking because I read it interacts negatively with Plavix; reducing Plavix purpose. 1st week of September I had a mild heart attached. several stents. therefore my doctor has me on Plavix for a year.
can the itching be cause from any one of my medicaitons? seeing primary on Thursday. Male age 63.

Yes it can be drug related, as normally in post standing patients with history of heart attacks are usually put on blood thinners as well as some drugs like beta blockers and ACE inhibitors. ACE is usually notorious for such symtoms and in some individuals clopidogrel may also cause these, but in your case, the disadvantages of stopping these medications outweigh the benefits so it can't be stopped. Moreover at this point, any association with drugs can't ne established unless detailed drug history isn't available. or you get examined by your GP or a dermatologist to rule out infected or allergic causes of itching like scabies or eczema. Meanwhile keep using anti histamines like cetrizine for itching and keep applying emolient lotions to keep skin moist. Looking forward for input from you on these.
