What Causes Slow Burning Radiating Pain After Being Bitten By A Dog?
Question: I was bit by a pitbull in XXXXXXX 2015. she bit my wri
st, right thigh and right lateral calf with deep puncture wounds in the popliteal fossa. Despite immediate medical attention, oral antibiotics rest and elevation, I developed cellulitis in my right calf and thigh.The wound has healed but there is dense scar tissue over the gastrocnemius region of my right lateral calf and surface numbness in that region. Gradually, over the past few months, I have been experiencing having pain, which I would describe as a slow burning radiating pain. Is it possible that a nerve was damaged? Any suggestions on which specialty I should consult with?

The burning pain you experience is due to the involvement of the nerve fibers supplying the area. They are caught up in the scar tissue. A plastic surgeon may be able to help you to get rid of the scar tissues. In the meantime
Gabapentin (Neurontin ) may help reduce the burning pain.
