What Causes Slow Growth In Infants?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015
Question: I have a question regarding my baby girl.
She was born preterm by 2 months. Her DOB is 20th Nov 2014 while the EDD was 27 XXXXXXX 2015.
Her current weight is 7.20 kg ; height 67 cm ; head circumference 40.5 cm
Is she lagging behind in growth?
I am particularly worried about her Head circumference as most charts online show the min value for a 9 month old girl to be 42 cm. Should I be worried about it?

Brief Answer:
You should follow parameters as per 7 months old

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome to the HCM

I completely understand your concerns but don't worry. Since your baby was 2 months premature, her parameters should be compared with 7 months infant instead of 9 months.

Her head circumference, weight and length are perfectly normal.
(The normal range is head circumference: 40.2-45.5 cm , weight 6-9.8 kg, length 63-72 cm)

All her parameters are normal, so just relax.

Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further health related questions.

Take care
