Question: Hi there, I have anxiety disorder and have been on antidepressants for 3 years now : (lustral 50, dogmatic 50, prothiedin 25 and xanax) , recently I've been getting rashes on my body and small light red/pink patches on my palmsand feet and sometimes they itch, iI just got my blood test results and they were all ok, this allergy rash come and go on its own but patches don't go, a doctor told me it could be an allergy urticaria so he told me to take claritin but still no progress since 10 days. What could this be? Is there a chance that it could be a an allergy to my antidepressants? Is it possible after 3 years? What could it be, please help.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Pressure urticaria - require high dose anti-H1

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thank you for writing to us.

Your symptoms are consistent with pressure urticaria, and need a variety of tests to ensure there is no underlying systemic cause before considering allergy to antidepressants.
There are few antidepressants that can trigger urticaria.

Other things to consider for which blood tests are available include:
Hemogram
Ferritin levels
Vit D3
Mast cell tryptase
Liver function tests
Uric acid
TSH and anti-TPO antibodies

Long acting non-sedating antihistamines will be effective.
Fexonfenadine 180mg once daily for 4 weeks combined with Hydroxyzine 50mg at night.
You can use Dermocalm lotion to relieve the heat.

Best Wishes.

Brief Answer:
Stress - the most consistent trigger for urticaria

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good that part of your results are normal
Anti-TPO antibodies are seen in a number of patients where monitoring thyroid function helps
There are lots of medical literature on stress being a major factor in not helping urticaria to remain under control.
