What Causes Smelly Stool While On Oflomac?
Question: My son's potty is too smelly now. Before 2days he was having loose motions and we gave him Oflomac. Now the motions are in control, but the consistency pf potty is semi solid and too smelly. What should we do?

Loose stools in child usually occurs due to infection. We usually give drugs to control infection and as a result it takes time for the loose stools to settle.
Since you are giving already oflomac medicine to child and loose stools have controlled, this means that child is improving. Oflomac syrup should be continued for 3 more days for the child to cure completely.
You should also do a stool for routine microscopy test so that if infection is not settled the cause can be found out.
A prebiotic like enterogermina ampules should be given once a day for 3 days to increase get immunity. Give ORS solution to child so that the dehydration doesn't occur. also give more fluids to child. diet should be soft. Curd also helps in relieving diarrhoea. if loose stools still persist, or foul smelling stools persist then a re examination by doctor should be done.
