What Causes Solid Green Colored Stool In A Twin?

No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I have seen the attached pictures.
At this age It is pretty normal for stools to be yellow or green.
This is because of both breastfeeding and formula feeding.
I presume that being twins your babies might be on both breastfeeding and formula.
How are they otherwise? If they are active, cheerful, feeding well with good urine output sat six to eight times a day, then no need to worry.
This is just part of digestion. Green colour is related to bile output from liver which usually gets reabsorbed in the large intestine.
No treatment is required.
However if the stools become loose or if your baby develops any other symptoms like fever or vomiting or excessive crying, you need to consult with your pediatrician.
Wishing your twin good health.
Regards
Dr Arun

I have attached pictures of the same
Needs prolonged breastfeeding
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Yes the last picture looks definitely full green.
This indicates baby is not getting enough hindmilk.
You need to empty one breast completely and feed till the baby is satisfied.
Even if you are feeding formula, ensure that you are diluting correctly with exact amount of water recommended. More than recommended dilution can cause such stools.
Taking the baby off and switching to other breast before hindmilk comes will result in such dark-green stools.
I also prescribe probiotics like bifilac syrup 2 ml twice daily for 5 days to help in restoration of good bacteria in the gut.
Regards
