items that also have the same odor are: some vegs lettuce, onions, celery,broccoli and also ice cream, cheese, chicken,fish, beef and tobacco. Is there any common
thing that could cause this. Is there a cure for this? could the chemicals used on plants and the hormones given to animals be the problem?

I don't think there's anything in common with these particular food items that would make them smell bad. I don't think chemicals are playing a role that I can think of.
Sometimes the freshness of vegetables might affect the way they smell with cooking.
so I don't think any hormones would affect this particular characteristic.
