What Causes Sore And Phlegmy Throat After Taking Augmentin Duo Forte?

Question: Hi dr,
I am currently on a short dose of Augmentin Duo Forte for Balanitis. I just woke up this morning with a bad sore throat and I can feel a lot of phlegm in my thoat as well as a congested nose. Could I possibly have developed a cold or could it be something more sinister like a Strel infection,? Could this also be possible that this is a reult of taking the antibiotics and possible resistance? Also should I still continue the last two days of the antibiotic course because of this newly developed symptom or go back to the Dr?
Kind Regards, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Nothing serious, looks like URTI, Continue course of antibiotics, do not s leave incomplete
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
It is difficult to comment exactly without examination, but from the information provided by you, or doesn't appear to be anything serious. It looks like viral upper respiratory tract infection.
I would suggest you to take stream inhalation with eucalyptus oil in it and do salt water gargling three to four times daily.
I would have treated you with tablet ricofast taken twice daily for three days. You should be fine by week.
I also advice you to continue to take the antibiotic and complete the course, not stop in the middle.
Take care
