What Causes Sore And Swollen Shin After An Injury?
how do I get a second answer / opinion?
was about falling and hitting floor...
Was trying to catch my dog and slipped on Kitchen floor...Hit Face on floor right side, chin and cheek. ...chin now sore to touch and a little but swollen...(hit whole right side of body, hip and shoulder hit first and then face smacked floor).
Does this up my risk of concussion or brain bleed?
how long do I have to worry about bad stuff happening?
I don't take aspirin, am 45 year old female, I do take krill oil, coq10 and vitron c.
this happened about 6 hours ago.
go thank you for your help!
Fall on floor brain injury unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma,am
Hello
I have gone through your medical history given by you in detail .
fall on floor ,hit with face ,chin & cheek without any transient unconciousness , HEAD INJURY is unlikely ,especially if there are no warning symptoms .
Warning symptoms to watch for are unconciousness, headache, vomitings ,giddiness etc.
If you are asymptomatic even after 6/7 hrs , you,re unlikely to have any brain bleed etc
Usual observation period is first 24 hrs .
It,s better that you don,t take aspirin. Aspirin causes increased chances of bleed .
CT scan head is only needed if warning symptoms are present .
Hope this clears your confusion .
Kindly feel free to contact me for any further querry .

could an mri be used instead of a CT scan? could it be without contrast? I've read so much I'm confused. messaged a doc friend and he said that no need to go er unless I had symptoms. ..and the said to refuse scan and ask for mri..
also...once symtpoms start isn't it too late and stuff is really bad?
MRI head can be done
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma'am,
Wishing you speedy and complete recovery.
Definitely MRI BRAIN can be done in lieu of CT scan brain. Yes, it can be done without contrast.
But if you are asymptomatic after 24 hrs of fall , actually you don't need a scan .
It is highly unlikely that you will develop any symptoms now .
Hope this answers your queries.
Thanks
