What Causes Sore Breasts And Nausea After Taking A Depo-Provera Shot?

Question: Hello! My girlfriend is on the depo shot and i went home last week to see her from school and we had sexual intercourse and i came inside of her many times. She said her breasts were sore and is now experiencing sharp pains and is very naseous, she missed her appointment for her shot on nov 3 and is now getting it tomorrow. Should we be worried about pregnancy?
Brief Answer:
Pregnancy is not a concern with this short delay.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I appreciate your concerns.
Depo Shot is very effective contraception. It is usually given every 13 weeks ( 3 months). There can be a delay of one week in taking it without compromising it's effect. So pregnancy should not be a concern because of this delay.
However no method is 100% effective. If she is nauseated, get a pregnancy test done.
Best wishes
