What Causes Sore Right Hand Knuckles And Painful Palm While Bending?

Question: About a week ago, I noticed my right hand knuckles felt sore after my wrist was bent to it fullest down. A day or two later, the top of my palm also started to hurt if the wrist was bent to the fullest down. I woke up a day later and the hand was slightly swollen plus extending the wrist to the maximum down would send real painful response on the top of my hand from index finger to pinky. Took 2 aspirin every 5 hrs and used cold packs and in two days rest, the swelling went down but an occasional wrist bend would bring the pain back.
The greatest pain is towards the pinky area just behind the knuckle. Wrist had a pressure sensation. Massaging the forearm seemed to help the 1st day or two. Not later. I do home remodeling, using my hands all the time. Almost 60 yrs old male, vegetarian 10 yrs, exercise 1/week cycling 2 hrs hard; not overweight. No medications. What's going on?

orthopedic review
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
The typical distribution of pain and course of illness indicates that you may be having Tenosynovitis due to malposition and excess stress on the hand tendons.
Sometimes local infection may lead to such problems.
You should get opinion from an orthopedic surgeon of your locality.
Antiinflammatory drugs, crêpe bandage application and elevation of hand above the level of heart at bedtime.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!

Thanks. Now that there is a name for this, I have an appointment w/ a reputable ortho surgeon to review and assist. In the mean-time, the crepe bandage and antiinflamatory is helping, along with elevating the hand at bedtime.
