Question: I have a very sore throat, congestion and stuffed up ears, plus a headache. OTC products aren't working. Can you recommend something?

Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Nasal decongestants like xylometazoline , NSAIDs like ibuprofen and anti histamines like benadryl will be helpful. You can also take throat lozenges to decrease irritation of throat.

Do gargling with chlorhexidine or saline. Take warm chicken soup with pepper, tea with lemon and chewable vitamin c. If there is yellowish or thick phlegm then antibiotics will be required. I would suggest antibiotics like Co-amoxiclav in such case. You can approach your GP in that case.
