What Causes Sore Throat, Nasal Congestion And Severe Cough?
Question: For last 11 days, low energy, cold symptoms of scratchy throat, then nasal congestion,coughing, esp worse at night. Energy better, last couple days, thought getting better then tonite, sore throat, used flashlight to see tongue in mirror, which has looked a bit coated lately, tonite has round red raised bumps at back of tongue & a black dot....what is that?

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to bacterial (streptococcal) sore throat infection. Antibiotic therapy will be required in such case.
I would suggest broad spectrum antibiotics like Co-amoxiclav. This is a prescription drug given in dosage of 625 mg twice daily for 5 to 7 days. You can also do warm saline gargle.
Black dot is most likely healed infected spot. Only if it persist after the course of antibiotic it should be investigated.
