What Causes Sore Throat With Cold Sores?
Question: Hi. I have a slight sore throat. My lips are slightly swollen. My tongue itches a little bit. I feel as though I have little sores -- like canker sores but there are no red or white bumps -- inside my mouth. Sometimes I get cold sores. I thought I'd gargle with salt and water. Any ideas of what this might be and should I take precautions not to infect anyone else (like kissing my husband -- who does not have these symptoms). Thank you.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Brief Answer:
This could be a viral situation.
I have read carefully your history and I think that this could be just a viral situation.
Furthermore, during this time you cannot kiss your husband till the moment you will not have symptoms.
I suggest to use just oral antiseptic during this time.
Please could you send me a picture of your tongue and lips.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
