What Causes Sore Toe With Black Blue Bruise Near Cuticle?
Question: Im a 55 year old man Im in good general health , but woke up with a sore big toe om y right foot. its black and blue under the nail near the cutical. been like that a few weeks thought I had dropped something on it some time a while back . it hurts when I put pressure down on the tip its not in the jiont . wonder what to do thought it would get better by now . I can see the blak and blue line had moved up as the nail has grown out about a 1/4 inch but it remains black and blue at tne bace of the toe nailand under the cutical. do you think I should have a dr look at it .if its broke is there anything to fix it but time . I wondered about making a hole in the nail at the bruse area to releave pressure .

Looks like you dropped something on the nail. There must have been some bleeding there that has got collected there.
As the nail grows, it will move out.
First- dont make the hole in the nail. Its a part of your body, not a piece of food. I think you should definitely have a doctor take a look at it, in case they feel a nail removal is needed. I personally dont think it would be needed.
I am also assuming that you dont have and associated medical conditions.

it woke me up this morning hurting Its been like this about a month or so. it doesnt hurt to walk on it . I been wearing army snow boats all winter that dont breath so my feet get sweaty . would soaking in warm water with ebsam salt help?

thank you if its broke I have heard there isnt much you can do but let it heal on its own .I have a doctor to visit but thought this was a minor thing that would go away
