Question: What would cause soreness and redness to the top of the foot right behind the toes. Hurts to bend the toes backwards.
Don’t know if this is relevant, but had a hip replacement 8 weeks ago, is it possible can be a blood clot

Is there another possibility that it could be.

Brief Answer:
Could be DVT (Blood clot in veins).

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Your surgery - hip replacement 8 weeks back is very relevant.
There is swelling in the foot with redness. It could be because of a blood clot in the veins and not a local clot. In medical terms, it is called DVT.

I would suggest you get color Doppler of your affected leg to assess for DVT and consult your doctor for relevant medicines ASAP.

Swelling can be there sometimes without DVT also but the first diagnosis would be DVT.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Yes, it could be swelling due to other causes.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes, it could be swelling due to other causes. But if you had hips replacement then the first diagnosis would be DVT. It can also recur if you had this swelling before due to some other cause.

Hope I have answered your query.
