What Causes Soreness In Calf Muscles In A Person With A Family History Of DVT?
Considerations.
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
I can appreciate that you are dealing with a significant amount of anxiety and concern regarding your current symptoms. Fortunately the Doppler study has ruled out the presence of a deep vein thrombosis. It's possible that there may be more of a muscular issue that is causing the symptoms you are experiencing.
I don't see any indication at this point to continue anticoagulation - just as your doctor has recommended. Aspirin would be reasonable but is not absolutely necessary. I would recommend that you stretch and walk every 30 to 45 minutes while you are on the flight as physical activity is just as important as any other means of preventing blood clots.
In the long term I would continue to focus on healthy exercise habits and maintaining a healthy weight to help minimize your risk for developingblood clots in the future.
Again, regarding the aspirin, I don't think it would cause any harm and it would not be unreasonable to try this on a daily basis while you're on the flight and traveling.
Thank you again for sending your question. I wish you all the best and continued good health.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga
