Brief Answer:
Hemorrhoids are most probable reason of your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Is the blood bright red and on the surface of the stool and/or toilet paper? Do you have any itching of the anus? Have you have hard stool/constipation recently?

Your symptoms are most likely caused by hemorrhoids. This condition is caused by constipation, pushing hard on stool or even lifting heavy objects. Due to increased pressure in the veins which are located in the anus, this veins get enlarged (similar to leg veins). This process takes some time (from few months to few years).
Hemorrhoids can be in the anus without any symptoms for a long time. However due to hard stool (which can rupture such veins) or constipation, the veins get swollen and inflamed. This gives anal discomfort which can be sensed as swollen anus. Lump can be also present (in stage III and IV of hemorrhoids lump can be present outside, stage I and II gives lump only inside). Itching and wet discharge can also appear.

Once the vein gets enlarged, can not be shrink by any medicines. However you can heal the inflammation so the symptoms will be gone for some time. To do that please follow this steps:
- increase fiber rich products and start probiotic intake
- do not push hard on stool
- wash you anus after every stool
- use OTC suppositories for hemorrhoids twice a day
- have sitz baths with Oak Bark twice a day

Such treatment should help in a week or so. If not, you should have colonoscopy repeated and consult general surgeon. Surgical removal of hemorrhoids might be necessary.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
