What Causes Spitting Up Of Mucus In A Person With Sinusitis?
Mucus dripping back in to the throat
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I checked the picture of the mucus in the basin. That is purulent.
Is it foul smelling or just sticky? If it has smell you may need antibiotics if not you need to reduce the secretions.
We hear a symptom early in the morning from people suffering from sinusitis. So with my experience I could feel that you have mucus dripping from the sinus or the nose back into the throat. This may or may not be perenneal. Whenever the mucus is excess secreted this bothers the person. You may search for Post nasal drip and how to deal with it on the internet and find more home remedies.
For now I would like to help with the following information
We Primary care doctors generally recommend mucolytics with nasal decongestant and steam inhalation. Since these medicines are not over the counter you should get a prescription. You can ask for the pharmacist if Guainefesin/Ambroxol is over the counter in your place. Tablet Cetrizine helps in case severe drip but steam inhalation is must. Take enough water to liquify the mucus. You can take an appointment with ENT specialist to check for deviation in the septum of nose and sinuses if there is enlargement you may need a surgery though a last option after the above medicines and steroid sprays to reduce the secretions.
Feel free to ask another query.
No it's not fowl smelling and it has happened maybe 2 times a month for the last 15 months
no reason to fear about cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Apologies for late reply.
It does not sound to be cancerous. Do you smoke or does cancer run in your family. These sinuses need to be treated sooner to prevent the epithelial integrity.
I still suggest a good work up under care of a ent surgeon.
Please clarify any pending queries with me. Now I am available.
I had blood work at a regular visit 8 months ago all was normal
I am not concerned
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thats good news. I am not concerned about your symptoms now. If sputum is clear it shows transient reaction only.
Do not worry. You should be fine soon.
