What Causes Spotting After Having BP Medication During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: Hi! I am 8 weeks pregnant. I have high BP and hence doctor has adviced me the following medicines : Ecosprin 75, Dubagest SR 300, Lobet 100 mg, Alphadopa 250, Folic acid and Doxinate. Last 5 days ago I had a little cramp in my back and I found out that I had blood stain but not too much. After 2 days my doctor got an ultrasound done for the baby well being which was fine. But again today, I found a little blood stain (only can be seen when I clean my private part). Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Breakthrough bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for trusting us about your health care.

I can understand your concern.

Congratulations on her pregnancy.

There is no need to worry right now as your baby is fine.

Her symptoms and spotting can be due to breakthrough bleeding( pregnancy hormones does not suppress period, so period like feeling around your period date at 4, 8 and 12 weeks of pregnancy).

It will resolved after 12 week.

As she is having high blood pressure and if bleeding persist and increases in quantity than you should consult your treating doctor for the same and she should continue her pregnancy under her strict supervision.

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more questions.

Regards
