What Causes Spotting And Bleeding During Pregnancy?

Question: I am newly pregnant ( about 8 weeks) I woke up yesterday to some bleeding bright red in color and a clot. I spotted a little and then stopped, spotted last night and woke up this morning with the bright red blood again, not heavy , but concerning. Should I see a dr. Or just rest ?
Brief Answer:
threatened miscarriage
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
Yes, you should see the doctor immediately as what you are experiencing is threatened miscarriage. An urgent ultrasound transvaginally would be mandatory to look for any placental separation and retroplacental clot. If the foetus is viable and heart beat is present then you would have to be placed on hcg and susten injections and oral micronised progesterone tabs daily and strict bed rest to avoid further bleeding and arresting the threat.
Please report to the ER.
