What Causes Spotting During Early Pregnancy?
Question: Hi,
I am pregnant for and my last perid date was 7th feb 2016. I am seeing light spotting of dark brown color from yesterday. Is it normal or something of concern.
I have done progesterone test and it came to be 12.7 and prolactin to be 32.67.
HbA1c-5.30
I am taking duphastone from past 2 days as directed by my doctor. I have appointment with my doctor next week so I am concerned about the spotting.
Kindly let me know about it

I am taking duphastone twice a day.
I would be grateful if you could tell me the reason of spotting and is it of concern or is it normal in pregnancy

Brief Answer:
Not a good sign usually
Detailed Answer:
It is not normal and usually not good but at times due to implantation bleeding so in my opinion take duphaston as advised and get an ultrasound as early as possible to see for heart beat of the baby.
In case that is not possible either then just take rest and all precautions told.
But visit emergency room in case there is a fresh bleeding episode.
All the Best.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer. But, I am a bit confused now from your answer. As I said, my last period was on 7th feb 2016 so my expected ovulation date was 24th Feb. So implantation should have happened a long ago. Why do you think spotting is still due to implantation?
However, I visited the doctor today and they gave me HCG 5000 IU injection and advised me to take Duphaston tablets.

Brief Answer:
Implantation bleed can occur between 4-8 weeks of gestation
Detailed Answer:
My Dear , Welcome back,
I understand your confusion but what you are saying is the earliest gestation at which implantation can occur, otherwise it can occur anytime between 4-8 weeks of gestation after which there occurs complete fusion of the baby with uterine walls.
It's good that you have got HCG shot and taking Duphaston, so now everything is dependent on rest and status will be clear after ultrasound.
Wish you luck.
Take care
