Posted on Fri, 26 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, I have pcos and had ovarian drilling on oct 16 and i had light bleeding for 5 days.apart from pcos everything else was normal.. tubes, uterus all healthy... On nov 16th i got my periods but it was light periods ... used just one pad a day and it lasted for 6 days , day 2 to day 7 i took clomid. I was also taking ovacet and folic acid daily. However i spotted a bit on day 10 and 11 and again from day 15 till today ( 23 day )i am spotting, will get to know only frm tissue wipe. But there is a rise in bbt , .5 to 1 degree. So i am confused if this is ovulation spotting or hormonal imbalance? We had intercourse everyalternate day from day 7 to today.

Since i came abroad for a month with husband i cudnt visit doc immediately n seeking ur help. If i m spotting light but for so long can i still get pregnant this cycle?

Brief Answer:
Possible ovulation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) This is very late time for ovulation ( 23rd day). But increase in BBT by 1 degree and spotting suggests possibility of ovulation.

2) It is better to get follicular growth scan done to check ovulation. Its best way to see follicles and ovulation status.

3) Since you have polycystic ovaries it is possible to have ovulated late ( now 23rd day). hence you presume this as ovulation and have intercourse for another 5 days from now. You still have possibility of pregnancy in this cycle.

4)

I hope your doubt is clarified.

Let me know if you have any more queries.

Hi, but i m spotting continuously from cd 15 to cd 21 ie today. With rise in temp frm cd15 to today as well. Since m abroad i cudnt go for scanning so just had to blindly try. My question is more concerned abt spotting for so long (9 days). Is that harmonal imbalance or ovulation that caused spotting to start? Are there chances i can get pregnant although i m spotting frm 8 to 10 days ?

Brief Answer:
You can get pregnant

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Spotting earlier is not because of ovulation. It cannot last so long. Spotting is more because of hormonal imbalance.

But present rise in temperature with spotting seems to be due to delayed ovulation.

Since scanning is not possible keep trying as I mentioned before.

You can get pregnant in this cycle though there was spotting for long time.

Thats great . But my doubt is if spotting was due to hormonal imbalance will that imbalance not prevent me from getting pregnant? How is it possible to get pregnant if i ovulated but had hormonal imbalance? Just a worry that's bothering me from last 6 to 10 days. ..

Brief Answer:
You can get pregnant

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Even if hormonal imbalance was present it wouldn't affect ovulation. It's effect was only on endometrium and that's why you had spotting.

Lot of women have reported pregnancy even with such spotting. Hence no need to worry. Keep trying.

All the best
