What Causes Squeezing Sensation In Chest Bone?
Question: I am 62 years old, male, no health issues. I exercise moderately. I have started experiencing very brief episodes of a sensation like something being squeezed inside, over the middle of the chestbone. It lasts a few seconds at most, and then I feel coughing at the end, just once. Sometimes it occurs a few times over a few minutes, sometimes just once, and I don't experience it at any particular time of day. My heartbeat is regular immediately after (it's so brief that I usually can't find my pulse quickly enough to check) and I don't feel anxious when it's happening.
Brief Answer:
may be related to cardiac arrhythmia
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking HCM!
Your symptoms may be related to cardiac arrhythmia (premature ventricular complex).
However more serious cardiac problems should be ruled out first (such as ischemic heart disease).
If you were my patient I would suggest running the following examinations:
- ECG
- Ecg Holter monitoring
- Cardiac ECHO
- Stress test
Based on the results a proper diagnosis and treatment will be able.
Hope this was of help!
